Wilkin Castillo (born June 1, 1984 in Baní, Dominican Republic) is a Dominican professional baseball catcher and outfielder for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball.

Professional career

Castillo was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2002 by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In 2007, he played for the Double-A Mobile BayBears. In 109 games, he had a .302 batting average. His contract was purchased by the Diamondbacks on November 20, 2007. In 2008, he was named the 14th-best prospect in the Diamondbacks organization.[1]

Castillo is a switch hitting utility player. In the minor leagues, Castillo has played virtually every position except pitcher.

On August 14, 2008, Castillo was sent to the Cincinnati Reds as a part of the Adam Dunn trade, which took place August 11. On August 31, he was called up to the majors.

He began the 2009 season with the Triple-A Louisville Bats after failing to earn a spot on the Reds' roster.[2] On June 20, Castillo was called up to the Cincinnati Reds.

Following the 2010 season, Castillo became a minor league free agent. He signed a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training with the Atlanta Braves.[3]

On December 16, 2011, Castillo signed a minor league contract with the Colorado Rockies.
